09 November 2020

**Updated** Please find below important Information for Attendees for the 2020 McDonald's Queensland Championships.

Access other event information via the event page.

Given the size and nature of this event, there are considerable differences to recent events hosted by Swimming Queensland. Specifically, there are differences between the Relays Day and Days 2-7.

As you can appreciate, this event has added complexities and further details will be communicated as soon as they are finalised. Club/Region administrators have been emailed this information with more detail. Coach and Club Manager allocation details were emailed to clubs Tuesday, 1 December.

We understand that many aspects of adjusting our sport to be COVID-Safe can be overwhelming and/or frustrating. We’re working hard to ensure we comply with the restrictions in order to continue to run events for our swimmers to enjoy racing and implement and execute training effects, race skills and race plans.

If you have questions or require any further clarification please get in touch with us in the office via email (admin.qld@swimming.org.au).

  • Relays Day
  • The below information is specific to the 2020 McDonald’s Queensland Championships – Relays Day. All nominations for Relays Day are managed and actioned by clubs and regions. Therefore, please direct any questions related to your swimmer's eligibility to participate to your Club/Region.

    SESSIONS

Thanks to the recent Queensland Health announcement, we are able to streamline RMHC Relays Day. We are now able to utilise 100% of the Western grandstand for spectators, removing the need to split the program into sessions with a 45 minute break.

A timeline will be released is available on the event page.

    SPECTATOR CAPACITY & TICKETING

Spectator tickets will be availableat a cost of $7 (plus fees) for the day. As spectators will be ticketed to individual seats, we are able to use 100% capacity of the Western grandstand; with over 2000 tickets available. Based on attendance of previous years, tickets are unlikely to sell out. Transactions will be limited to 4 tickets each.

A small number of accessible seats are available for those unable to safely navigate the stairs and priority will be given accordingly. To request an accessible seat, please complete this online request form.

Tickets will go on sale 8am, Monday 7 December (links available from the event page including for purchasing a program).

There is still a requirement to separate spectators from areas in use by Active Participants (i.e. pool deck and Eastern grandstand). This means that on the day, swimmers, coaches and club/region managers are not permitted to spectate in the Western grandstand.

    COACH & CLUB/REGION MANAGER ALLOCATIONS

Swimming Queensland has allocated coach and club/region manager passes, based on a ratio of swimmers nominated. Clubs/Regions have been notified of their allocation and provided their unique access codes and are responsible for assigning these.

We recognise that some swimmers may require additional parental assistance / supervision. Where possible, this should be accommodated within your Club/Region’s club manager allocation. Where this is unachievable, club/region administrators can advise us of the additional support person tickets needed on behalf of those parents (name, mobile, email, which session/s they require). These tickets will not allow pool deck access (unless required for multi-class swimmers). These tickets are not limitless, so please only use them where absolutely necessary. This online form will close 11:59pm Sunday 6 December.

Club/region manager and support person tickets will be $7 (plus fees) while coaches are free.

Clubs may interchange club managers throughout the day via a reallocation process conducted at the entry point using EVA Check-in.

Each club/region group (swimmers, club managers, support persons and coaches) will be allocated to a designated section in the Eastern grandstand. Some clubs will also have access to space around the outdoor pool deck to setup marquees.

Please note, the above details relate only to the 2020 McDonald’s Queensland Championships – Relays Day. For information relating to Days 2-7 of this event, please refer to the relevant section of this page.

  • Days 2-7 - Finals
  • Due to the low number of attendees, Finals will be considerably different to Heats sessions, so please read the below information carefully.

Access to the venue for Finals sessions for all attendees will be via the Western grandstand. Sections 6 and 7 will be allocated for finalist swimmers, coaches and any support persons. Sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be sold as spectator tickets (swimmers and coaches are not permitted in these sections). Section 1 can be used by any competing swimmers attending a finals session, but not swimming in a final.

Finals competitors (including reserves) can opt to have one person act as their support person during the finals session and sit with them in section 6/7. This Support Person is not mandatory. Finals competitors and their Support Person must arrive together, so competitors can be checked off and scanned in and their Support Person can purchase their ticket ($7 via contactless Eftpos) and complete an EVA Check-in for contact tracing purposes.

Spectator tickets can be purchased online via Ticketbooth. Transactions will be limited to 4 tickets each. Swimmers and coaches are not permitted in the spectator sections. If spectators and competitors wish to interact, they may only do so on the concourse not in their seats.

Swimmers not competing in finals, who wish to use the warm up / warm down pool facilities may do so, scanning in using their event ticket. These swimmers must sit in section 1.
