
Four Queenslanders Samuel Thorpe ( St Peters Western, QLD), Sienna Deurloo (Toowoomba Grammar, QLD), Daisy Quinn (Sunshine Coast Grammar, QLD) and Emily Broun (Rackley Centenary, QLD) will headline an eight-strong Australian team for this year’s World Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Italy.
They will be accompanied by coaches Cameron Gledhill ( St Peters Western, QLD) and Luke Stafford (Sunshine Coast Grammar) when more than 200 athletes aged between 14-19 years from 35 countries line up in the three-day meet in Alghero, Sardinia from September 6-8.
And they will continue a rich tradition which kicked-started when Australia hosted the first official Fina World Open Water World Championships on the Swan River in 1991.
