Queenslanders Win Big at Australian Swimming Awards 2021

Over the weekend Swimming Australia celebrated one of the most successful years in our nations swimming history. Athletes, coaches and support staff from the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic campaign gathered on the Gold Coast to reflect on their achievements.

We are extremely proud of all our Queensland athletes who represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games. Here is a complete list of Queensland award winners from the 2021 Swimming Australia Award Honours:

Olympic Program Swimmer of the Year – Emma McKeon (Griffith University, coached by Michael Bohl)

Paralympic Program Swimmer of the Year – William Martin (Nudgee College Swimming, coached by David Proud)

Open Water Program Swimmer of the Year Kareena Lee (Noose, coached by John Rodgers)

AIS Discovery of the Year – Benjamin Hance (USC Spartans, coached by Nathan Doyle)

Olympic Program Coach of the Year – Michael Bohl (Griffith University)

Paralympic Program Coach of the Year – David Proud (Nudgee College Swimming)

Open Water Program Coach of the Year – John Rodgers (Noosa)  

Youth Coach of the Year – Dean Boxall (St Peters Western) 

Roger Smith Technical Official of the Year – Lori Chaplin (Southern Cross Swimming Club, Queensland)

Swimmers’ Swimmer – Grant ‘Scooter’ Patterson (Central Cairns, coached by Andrew Howard)
