Queensland swimmers have a proud history of breaking State, National and World Records. Swimmers who are the fastest in a particular event, age group or classification (Multi Class Records only) are deemed to be the current record holder. Queensland records may be broken at all levels of competition; from approved club meets to international competition.
Long Course (LC) and Short Course (SC) records
Long Course (LC) records are established in a 50 metre pool while Short Course (SC) records are established in a 25 metre pool. All records must be achieved in a pool that meets the specific requirements as outlined in section SW 12.A in the SQ/SAL Swimming Rules Booklet.
There are three different types of Queensland records:
Queensland record
A Queensland record is the fastest time swum by a Swimming Queensland member at recognised meets anywhere in the world. Queensland records are divided into both age-group (i.e. 11 years, 12 years etc.) and open (all ages) for both Long Course and Short Course.
Queensland Allcomers record
A Queensland Allcomers record is the fastest time swum by anyone, regardless if they are a member of a Swimming Queensland Club, other state organisation or International Swimming Federation, at an approved meet held in Queensland. Queensland Allcomers Records can be set for both Long Course and Short Course.
Queensland Multi Class record
A Queensland Multi Class record is the fastest time swum by a Queensland Multi Class swimmer at recognised meets anywhere in the world. Records are set according to their age and classification. There are age and open QLD Multi Class records for Long Course (LC) only.
